Our Product. The Problems with Current Drone Deliveries. Our Solution.
Drone Receiving Systems (DRS Nest) is a product that safely and securely receives packages/cargo delivered by a drone or quad copter to residential or commercial locations. The DRS Nest is secured to a structure at an elevated location for security purposes. The product is designed to communicate with delivery drones for landing; assisting in the transfer of cargo; departure of the drone complete with a sensor acknowledging receipt of package (or an image (or video) with proof of delivery.
The Problem:
In the future, drones or quad copters will be used to deliver products from main distribution hubs to commercial and residential addresses. The use of drones or quad copters for distribution will be encouraged because it reduces traffic, speeds up delivery, is better for the environment (no fossil fuel use) and is a less expensive alternative to today's (FedEx, DHL, US Mail and UPS) manned delivery trucks. Currently, there is no company, product or solution to address the need for how the cargo will be received by the customer in a safe and secure manner. The drones themselves are feasibly able to pick up and secure the cargo from a distribution center, but once the cargo is in route, how does is it securely and reliably deliver products to their intended recipients in a secure manner and location?
The Solution:
The DRS Nest solution solves this problem by installing receptacles (or nests) at the commercial or residential locale. The drones or nests are able to identify each other’s ID signal through a GPS transponder/transceiver, Wi-Fi and strobe light locator directly identifying the DRS Nest landing pad. The 2 way communication between the drone can assist the drone in locating the exact location of the DRS Nest, instruct the drone to release the cargo and acknowledge receipt of the cargo. If there is any error, the DRS Nest© is able to signal via text/email or call to check the status or if maintenance in required. The DRS Nest then communicates to the customer (who has received the cargo), the transportation company (FedEx, UPS) that the cargo has been delivered and the manufacturer/seller (who has sold the cargo – ie. Amazon or Wal-Mart) a delivery confirmation complete with receipt that is time stamped with location and picture (from the on board drone camera).
The attributes of DRS Nest are:
· GPS transponder, transmitter and/or Wi-Fi address.
· Communications HUB with strobe light to help guide the drown to the location in various weather and night conditions.
· Extendable/Retractable (foldable) arm - see drawing
· Security system (Security is twofold (1) physical location to make it difficult to steal cargo and (2) locking mechanism).
· Smartphone app (iPhone, Android, Amazon Fire, etc) that controls the DRS Nest© interface, alert system and delivery tracking system.
· DRS Nest is upgradeable to include temperature controlled (hot or cold climate control) receiving. Example: for delivery of pizza (hot) or beer (cold). AC and Solar powered operation, video surveillance and strobe light
